A stay with Swiss Couple in Köniz, Switzerland
It is not a promotional Airbnb blog.
My husband and I took a trip to Switzerland. It was a week’s trip. We chose Bern city as our central stay place because of good public transport connectivity.
Staying countryside in Switzerland in a circus trailer

We booked a Circus trailer for our stay for four days. A circus trailer may sound weird as a stay option, but that trailer had everything that one would need on vacation. It was a perfect and cozy place to spend quality time.
As a couple, we love places that are naturally rich, peaceful, and NOT in the middle of a city. Three miles from the town, amidst beautiful and lush green meadows, is this Airbnb circus trailer. We saw Swiss cows grazing and enjoying. The view was spectacular. One could sense the peace and calmness of the place. Our trailer had a big front lawn where we enjoyed our morning coffees.
We loved the setting so much that we were excited to spend our vacations at such a place.
All day and night, the music to our ears was the sound of the cowbells.
Our hosts- A Swiss couple who believe in living a slow countryside life

The main highlight of our trip was our stay in Köniz with a Swiss couple whom we met via Airbnb.
We first met Daniel when he came to pick us up from the nearest bus stop to take us to our stay place. Later in the evening, we met Corrinne, his wife. They both live in their multi-generational home next to our circus trailer. They both made us feel at home and ensured that we were comfortable.
By the evening, it started to get colder, so Daniel suggested making use of the wood fire to keep the trailer warm. He taught us how to light a fire and that was our first experience doing so.
The Wi-Fi went weak, so there was a digital detox for both of us.
A Swiss breakfast basket

We read so many good reviews about the breakfast provided by our hosts, so we decided to try it.
The next morning, Daniel knocked at our door with a breakfast basket in his hand. They thought well about our breakfast basket as we informed the couple that we do not eat meat. It had fruits, bread, butter, croissants, cheese, juice, milk, and homemade jam. We did not miss breakfast any day. It was SUPER fulfilling, yum, and reasonably priced.
Bonding with over tea and kuchen ritual
The next day, after our return from Luzern back to Köniz, our hosts invited us for an evening tea. They welcomed us at their multi-generational home, gave us a tour, and showed us family pictures. Finally, we all sat in their living room. Corrinne came with two different tea and homemade pear kuchen(cake). They told us, “We’re the first Indian couple who has come to stay with them” and they are so happy to host us. We shared our life experiences.
They are both in their 60s and being married for more than two decades had a lot to share about their life.
Corrinne shared how her mother loved India so much that she spent years living there. She even has a Masala daani (A Box to keep all the spices) as every Indian household does. She showed us a bag made from one of the old sarees that her mother had. They did not make us feel like we were living on their rented property, but they made us feel, “like their family. They touched our hearts like none.
It is not the materialism that adds experience to your life but the people who add experiences to this life that are worth remembering.
Köniz with a Swiss couple will always remain a special chapter in our lives.
